When TaylorMade set out to design the TaylorMade R9 irons, they knew they had to make a more forgiving golf iron than they had ever done before. Using a technology called the Inverted Cone technology, TaylorMade was able to increase the COR zone of the clubface by over 10%. This created a more forgiving club face that resulted in more control and greater distance. In addition to this technology, TaylorMade also created a velocity control chamber.
